Were you involved in a car accident and feel pain after? What should you do if you get involved in a car accident?

In British Columbia, Canada, all drivers are required to carry driver’s license and ICBC insurance while they are driving a car. After an initial encounter of a car accident, make sure everything around is safe for yourself and other people. If you are sure everything’s safe, collect as much information as possible such as their ID’s, insurance information, phone number, and any relevant information. It’s always a good idea to get information of witnesses if there are any. Wait until police arrives and investigate the scene.

Claim your case to ICBC via their online application which takes only 10-15 minutes to complete or directly call them to report. In a few business days, you will receive a claim number.

So now what treatment options do I have?

With the claim number you got, you can have different treatment options including chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture, physiotherapy and so on. All these treatment options will be partially or fully covered by ICBC regardless if the car accident is at your fault or at other driver’s.

How to initiate treatment?

All treatment options are referred by a family doctor except for chiropractic treatment. Chiropractors are qualified to diagnose, examine, interpret x-rays, and treat car accident patients without family doctor’s referrals in Canada. If you are involved in a car accident in Vancouver, British Columbia, it’s the most convenient to directly go to your chiropractor for immediate treatment. Your chiropractor may refer you to other treatment options depending on your conditions.

How much does it cost for chiropractic treatment?

In Greater Vancouver, British Columbia, ICBC covers 100% of chiropractic treatment even if a car accident is 100% your fault. However, there are two different options that you can choose from and the only difference is that you pay first and get reimbursed through ICBC or you let our clinic claim to ICBC directly. Second option has time frame limits such as 3-4 months duration.
