Best Treatment for headache
If headaches are disrupting your day, lasting longer than expected, or returning too often, it may be time to look into it. While there can be many causes for headaches, natural and alternative therapies are also an approach worth considering. Chiropractic care, acupuncture, and massage therapy are proven approaches that target the root causes of tension and migraine headaches—helping restore balance, reduce pain, and prevent future flare-ups.
Instead of relying only on medication for temporary relief, these holistic treatments work to release muscle tension, improve circulation, and realign your body so you can feel and function at your best.

There are many different types of headache and it is crucial to diagnose the exact headache types in order to decrease headache intensity and frequency. The real life situation is not as simple and most patients suffer from different types of headache at the same time.
Chiropractic adjustments would benefit some migraine headache but the effect is minimal and some patients feels mild relief only.
Massage therapy and stretching may help ease the tension and many patients can get benefit from the therapies mild to moderate degree.
The headache type that patients can benefit out of chiropractic adjustment combined with massage therapy. Bad posture, sleeping in a wrong position, tight muscles around the neck and upper shoulder, trigeminal/occipital nerves around the neck, or curve changes on cervical (neck) spine may cause this type of headache.
This headache can be caused by inflammation of sinuses and cold-like symptoms. Acupuncture may help this type of headache mild to moderate in effect.
Some patients suffer from the headache caused by fluctuation of hormones such as during menstruation, menopause, or pregnancy. Hormone balances can be controlled in a certain degree by acupuncture treatment.

The most commonly treated with best prognosis with non-surgical/non-medical therapies is the cervicogenic headache. Patients with this type of headache usually suffers from the headache back of skull and temporal side of the head behind eyes. When the headache gets worse, some patients even feel nauseous or dizzy. We strongly recommend the patients with cervicogenic or nerve compression headache to take X-rays since these types of headache are result of cervical (neck) spine curve or disc problems.
Many patients go through extensive diagnostic tests and can not find the cause of headache sometimes. Especially the patient suffers from cervical spine problems, muscle tension, or nerve compression, conventional diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRIs, or ultrasound do not show any abnormal findings. When headache become persistent and severe, many worry about the worse such as cancer or tumor in the brain but they are confused when diagnostic images show nothing. They usually try to ease the condition with painkillers or massaging the affected area which gives temporary relief.
If you could not figure out the cause of the headache with these types of images and your headache comes frequently, you should at least check with our therapists especially initial assessment with our chiropractor. Our chiropractor will take and read X-ray results and deliver chiropractic adjustment with assigning other therapies.
Chiropractic adjustment will release pressure out of spine joints and thus decrease the compression of nerves responsible for the headache. In a long term, chiropractic adjustments can help preserve healthy state of cervical (neck) spine and protect discs and nerves from further damage.
Massage therapy (RMT) would help release tension of upper shoulder and neck muscles which would cause increased pressure on neck spine joints and nerves. Stress and overwork can increase the tightness of neck and upper shoulder and massage therapy would work good against the headache caused by muscle tightness.
Acupuncture can work on some types of headache that are caused by inflammation or imbalance of hormone or internal homeostasis by restoring the balance of Qi and body.
Considering you have a headache that can be helped by therapies and assigned to the proper treatment, most of our patients have their symptoms subside down in terms of frequency and intensity between 3-7 sessions. Many of our patients used to take pain medications to relieve the headache but they can improve to the point where they do not need any more pain medication.

We would strongly recommend taking X-rays before starting treatment since cervicogenic and nerve compression headache usually accompany cervical spine deformity, curve changes, or disc problems. Certain conditions maybe found along the way to find out the cause of the headache and would be beneficial to know about one’s condition in depth before any treatment can be assigned.
After a course of treatment and major headache has been decreased significantly, our therapists usually recommend our patients to come once in two to four weeks to prevent the condition flares out again and maintain the health of neck (cervical spine).
Certain exercises will be given in the clinic to prevent headache comes back. Regular exercises are necessary to keep the good condition of the neck and decrease the headache symptoms.
